'There was once a psychologist who conducted
an experiment like this...
He spoke to different students one-on-one,
and in the middle of his otherwise ordinary
conversation, he posed a question.
"I know this is sudden, but give me a three
multiple choice question on anything you like."
So the student went and gave him a question..
"Which of the following prefectures is my hometown?"
(1) Mile
(2) Kagoshima
(3) Okayama
He enacted this kind of scenario with 100 students in
total and you know what? The vast majority of students
tended to make their second or third choice the right answer.
Almost nobody had their first option as the correct one. Maybe
it's evidence of an instinctive subconscious defense mechanism.
Mixing the correct answer behind an incorrect one tended
to give people a sense of security.'
